THE Royal Australian College of
General Practitioners has come out
in support of the Guild push to
suspend the Home Medicines
Review program, with a
spokesperson for the GP group
saying the scheme should be
completely scrapped.
According to the 6minutes
publication for doctors, RACGP
national standing committee chair,
Dr Evan Ackerman, said that the
GPs believe HMRs could be
“scratched without any problem.
“There’s no evidence of their
effectiveness in primary care and it
should have been removed a long
time ago”.
According to the report,
Ackerman said the funds would be
better placed being “put towards
something worthwhile” such as
integrating pharmacists into
general practice, or to help GPs
evaluate medicine safety issues. The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 05 Feb 13 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 05 Feb 13
