THE PSA has released a new
protocol for pharmacists to follow
when dealing with chloramphenicol
following the ratification by the
NDPSC of its earlier decision to
reschedule the medication for
opthalmic use to S3.
The new protocol is available for
download by PSA members now at
wwww.psa.org.au, while a hard
copy version will be made available
via the May 2010 issue of
Australian Pharmacist.
The evidence-based protocol
outlines how to appropriately
establish patient needs by for
example differentiating between
bacterial, viral and allergic
conjunctivitis, as well as covering
key counselling points and advice
on referral to GP or optometrist. The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 20 Apr 10 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 20 Apr 10
