AMA health issues
May 13, 2016
THE Australian Medical
Association (AMA) has outlined its
major concerns for political parties
to take up ahead of the 02 Jul
election.
President Brian Owler says the
incoming government must support
the “two pillars of the Australian
healthcare system,” namely quality
primary health care services, led
by general practice, and well resourced
public hospitals.
He called for a lift of the Medicare
rebate freeze, an increase in
hospital capacity, leadership in
indigenous health, enhanced
medical workforce and training,
chronic disease management and
rural health.
