Australian Michael Groom is unquestionably one of the world’s greatest 'big' mountain climbers. Michael has climbed Makalu, Lhotse, Kangchenjunga, K2 and Everest - all without the assistance of bottled oxygen and all but once, he climbed without the front third of his feet. Suffering crippling frostbite from one of his descents in 1987, he had both feet partially amputated. Amazingly, he was advised to get a desk job and that his climbing days were over! Community Pharmacy is being attacked on many fronts, however as long as we take the time to be well informed and truly understand the ramification of the changes that are about to come into play, we can continue to keep our profession and our businesses stronger in these challenging economic times for pharmacy. PBS price reforms, the impact of generics, direct distribution and reducing wholesaler margins are all creating an uncertainty never experienced before in pharmacy.
