SUMMARY:PDL Centenary National Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Mr Michael Groom OAM PDL welcomes all pharmacists and members to join in the celebration of 100 years of service to pharmacy and to take the opportunity to meet the Board, CEO and your local Director. As a thank you to our members, we invite you to attend an inspirational presentation by acclaimed mountaineer, Michael Groom, OAM. Michael shares his stories and shows us how obstacles are no more than challenges and reinvigorates our beliefs in our dreams. Australian Michael Groom is unquestionably one of the world’s greatest 'big' mountain climbers. Michael has climbed Makalu, Lhotse, Kangchenjunga, K2 and Everest - all without the assistance of bottled oxygen and all but once, he climbed without the front third of his feet. Suffering crippling frostbite from one of his descents in 1987, he had both feet partially amputated. Amazingly, he was advised to get a desk job and that his climbing days were over! Registration essential RSVP to Chloe Foreman – 07 3896 1900 or chloe.foreman@psa.com.au by Thursday 02 February 2012 (Please advise of any dietary requirements)

SUMMARY:2011 Pharmacy Management Conference
DESCRIPTION:‘Take your business to new heights’ is the tag line this year, reinforcing our intention to focus on management issues and how to be more successful in the business of running pharmacies. I am sure you will agree that to continue to deliver the highest level of professional services to our patients and customers our businesses must be profitable, therefore we will discuss those issues that can impact on our bottom line, how to best deal with them and to grow our businesses regardless. Community Pharmacy is being attacked on many fronts, however as long as we take the time to be well informed and truly understand the ramification of the changes that are about to come into play, we can continue to keep our profession and our businesses stronger in these challenging economic times for pharmacy. PBS price reforms, the impact of generics, direct distribution and reducing wholesaler margins are all creating an uncertainty never experienced before in pharmacy. You need to know how all these will affect you and how to minimise the impact on your business and the health outcomes of your patients. You also need to know how to take advantage of the many opportunities the Fifth Community Pharmacy Agreement offers. So we may all be well prepared for these changes we have invited our presenters to share their knowledge so we truly understand the implications of these changes and their effects on how we currently manage our businesses. If you are in a managerial role within Community Pharmacy, either as a banner group owner/ manager, single independent pharmacy owner/manager, board member, senior staff member, wholesaler or supplier - this Conference is designed specifically for you. Also, with the new Pharmacy Board requirements for continuing professional development, this Conference, which offers up to 20 CPD credits, is one of the last opportunities available before the cut - off date of 30 September to ensure you have obtained your required CPD credits for re-registration. Our destination this year is the iconic Fairmont Resort at Leura in the Blue Mountains. In keeping with our tradition of moving this Conference to destinations that are both geographically appealing and have excellent Convention facilities, space for the increasing need for serious networking and a myriad of things to do, this venue ticks all the boxes. The Fairmont (currently being restored to its former glory - completion by July) is very affordable, family friendly and easily accessible (only 90 minutes from Sydney Airport). And it also has the facilities for those who wish to take a little ‘time out’ pre or post the Conference to spend with family and friends. The increasing number of delegates from supplier organisations continue to add to the value of attending the Conference. Having time to speak at length with your suppliers and to see what is available in one place at one time is a luxury rarely available and an excellent way to maximise your time at this event. This is an interactive, friendly Conference with delegates coming from all states of Australia and New Zealand and with the growing trend for delegates to bring their families – a practice we very much welcome and encourage, we invite you to take action and register now.
